WORK PROGRAMME
& TIMELINE
Work started this summer and is due to completed this autumn
These works will unavoidably cause some inconvenience, but our aim is to keep any disruption to a minimum. Access to shops and businesses will be maintained during business hours. However, due to the need to keep businesses open, there will inevitably be some ‘out-of-hours’ work. There may also be some noise during these works, which we will try to keep to a minimum.
Keeping local residents and businesses updated will be a priority throughout the works and we are working closely with our contractor to ensure this happens. This includes giving you updates on progress, putting in place on-site notices and providing a dedicated contact telephone number and email address for people to report issues if they arise.
COVID-19 Update
The majority of the existing footway width of St Albans Road is around 4 metres or greater, so it is the intention to undertake the works by a phased re-paving of half the footway width at a time to enable social distancing for the public. The areas of St Albans Road where the footway width is less than 4 metres are predominantly adjacent to existing parking bays or the bus stop. When re-paving in these areas, the parking bays or bus stop will be suspended to allow a temporary footway of over 2.4 meters to be provided to allow social distancing.
Our contractor, Murrill Construction Ltd (MCL), is working under the Government, Public Health England and the Construction Leadership Council guidelines and operating procedures relating to COVID-19 including but not limited to site signage, smaller working areas and site welfare requirements.
